Biography - Sbutega Milan

He was born on October 7, 1955 in Kotor, Montenegro. He had finished primary school in Prčanj, a place near Kotor where he has been living. In 1974 he completed the Maritime High School “Captain Marko Martinović” in Kotor, while in 1980 he graduated at the Maritime College, also in Kotor.

In 1981 he passed the exam for Master Mariner.

In the period 1974-1978 he was employee at the shipping company “Jugoslovenska Oceanska Plovidba” from Kotor as Nautical Cadet and 3rd Officer. In 1978 he joined “Dabinovic (Monaco) S.A.M.” shipping company from Monaco where served as 2nd Officer and Chief Officer. In 1995 he was promoted as Shipmaster. Since 2012 he was in charge of ISM Code, while from 2014 he is in charge of crewing.

For the excellent results during his education he had obtain award “Luča” in Maritime High School and was acknowledged the best student in Montenegro for the year 1974 and same award “Luča” obtained also at the Maritime College. For the theses he had defended 1980 at the Nautical department of the Maritime College the World Meteorological Organization from Geneva awarded him with the prize “PhD Borivoje Dobrilović”.

In 2007 he was honored by the Maritime Museum from Kotor with the prize “Merito Navali”.

He lives in Prčanj. He is widower and father of three.
