Biography - Đurčević Jovana

Jovana Đurčević was born in Podgorica, where she completed her primary and secondary education. She graduated from the English Language and Literature Department of the Faculty of Philology in 2010. In 2014 she acquired her MA degree in Linguistics at the same Faculty, where she also obtained her PhD degree in the same discipline in 2021. During her studies, Jovana received many scholarships: Ministry of Education and Science of Montenegro scholarship for talented students (2006-2010), Atlas Group Scholarship “10 for 10” as the best student at the English Department (2009), and UGRAD Exchange Program Scholarship (2008-2009) which she successfully completed (QPA 4.00/A) and earned placement on Dean’s list in both semesters. As a graduate exchange student, she also completed short-term study programs in Slovenia. Fields of her interest and current research include contact linguistics, contrastive linguistics, cognitive linguistics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics.

Jovana has worked at the English Language and Literature Department (Faculty of Philology, University of Montenegro) since 2010. She is currently teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses at the same deparment: English Morphology, Contemporary English 5 and 6, Translation and Literary Translation.

 Having participated in a number of translation projects that deal with literary texts, Jovana also appears as a published translator in several volumes. She actively participates in international cooperation projects and programs, too: CEEPUS Scholarships Student Advisor (2011-2013), EU SEEPALS TEMPUS Project (2010-2013), ERASMUS+ Re@WBC Project (2015-2018). She is a member of Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society, Montenegrin Association for American Studies "Dr. Biljana Milatovic”, American Association for Teachers of Slavic and East European Languages (AATSEEL), and Canadian Association of Slavists (CAS).
