Biography - Božović Petar

Petar Božović, Ph.D. teaches at the English Language and Literature Department, Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Economics at the University of Montenegro.He is currently teaching Contemporary English 1 and 2 (speaking and writing) at the undergraduate level, and Academic Writing, Translation Theory 2, Legal Translation and Literary Translation 2 at the graduate specialization and MA level. Furthermore, he teaches ESP courses: Legal English and English for students of Economics.

His research is in translation studies, corpus linguistics and experimental linguistics. Petar is a member of the European Society for Translation Studies (EST), Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society (USA), Montenegrin Association for Applied Linguistics, and European Association for American Studies. He participated at a number of international conferences in the USA, India and Montenegro and was one of the lecturers at the Meaning(ful) Translation summer school as part of the EU SEEPALS TEMPUS programme. He gave lectures at the Institue for Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw, and Faculty of Arts at the University of Osijek within the Earsmus+ Teaching Staff Mobility Programme. As part of the same programme, he took part in a training mobility in corpus linguistics which was organized at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He is engaged on the Encyclopedia of Slavic Languages and Linguistics project published by Brill and co-author on an entry on corpora for Slavic languages. He is a team memeber for the implementation of the Erasmus+ CBHE ReFLAME project. He was twice awarded the fellowship for the Regional Linguistic Data Initiative Programme (ReLDI), a two-year institutional partnership between research units in Switzerland, Serbia and Croatia, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation under the SCOPES programme (Scientific co-operation between Eastern Europe and Switzerland). This included attending two seminars Empirical Data in Linguistic Studies: Resources and Methods and Statistical Analysis of Language Data. Furthermore, Petar attended five seminars of methodology of scientific research organized by the University of Montenegro within the TRAIN programme.

He works actively as a conference interpreter (both consecutive and simultaneous) providing his services to local and international institutions and at high officials meetings. Petar is also active in translating literature, especially short stories, which were published in Montenegro and India. He was one of co-editors of a collection of Canadian short stories, Kanadski pejzaži. He authored two ESP university textbooks and published a number of research articles in indexed peer-reviewd journals (SSCI, AHCI, Scopus).
