A round table titled “Enhancing Cooperation between the Centre for Vocational Education and Higher Education Institutions in the Field of Lifelong Learning”, organized by the Institute for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies and the Centre for Vocational Education, was recently held at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro.

At the opening of the event, the participants were welcomed by the coordinator of the Institute for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies, Prof. Dr. Nedeljko Latinović, who emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between higher education institutions and institutions engaged in vocational education.

On behalf of the Centre for Vocational Education, Ms. Milica Jaramaz, Senior Advisor I in the Department for Adult Education and Lifelong Learning, presented several opportunities for improving cooperation with the University of Montenegro, including:

  • organizing various training sessions and programs to adequately respond to labor market needs,
  • developing courses, modules, and programs for acquiring professional qualifications, key competencies, and teachers’ professional development,
  • joint application and implementation of projects in the field of lifelong learning and digital literacy,
  • organizing conferences and workshops,
  • identifying priority areas for programs designed for adult learners.

Jaramaz noted that by the end of December, an amendment to the adopted Catalogue of Teacher Professional Development Programs for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 school years will be published, inviting university professors to propose and accredit programs that would contribute to improving the quality of teacher professional development. As she emphasized, all these activities contribute to the common goal — enhancing the quality of adult education and strengthening the system of lifelong learning in Montenegro.

As part of the program, Vesna Gajević, National EPALE Coordinator, presented the EPALE platform — an electronic platform for adult education in Europe, an initiative of the European Commission that brings together professionals working in this field. Gajević highlighted the importance of EPALE as a key European online space for exchanging knowledge, resources, and experiences among adult education experts (presentation attached).

As an example of good practice, the round table featured the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Montenegro, a licensed adult education organization. In this regard, Doc. Dr. Boško Matović delivered a presentation providing a detailed overview of the faculty’s activities in the field of adult education (presentation attached).

The round table was attended by representatives of university units, as well as Mr. Ivan Marković, Head of the Department for Adult Education and Lifelong Learning.
