The Faculty of Civil Engineering was founded in 1980. It is the oldest and only higher education institution in Montenegro that educates personnel in the field of civil engineering.

The principles of the Bologna Declaration organize the teaching.

Starting in 2017/2018, the Faculty organized bachelors, masters, and doctoral studies according to the 3+2+3 study system.

Bachelor studies last three years, i.e. six semesters and 180 ECTS credits. The Faculty offers one academic study program at the undergraduate level, Civil Engineering.

Masters studies last two years, i.e. four semesters and 120 ECTS credits. The Faculty offers three academic study programs at the masters level: Civil Engineering - Structures, Civil Engineering - Infrastructure, and Management in Civil Engineering (interdisciplinary masters studies).

Doctoral studies last three years, i.e. six semesters and 180 ECTS credits. The Faculty offers one academic program for doctoral studies, Civil Engineering.

The faculty staff implements the teaching process at the Faculty, which currently numbers 12 full professors, seven associate professors, seven assistant professors and 15 associates. The faculty staff is representative, made up of the most recognizable names in Montenegrin civil engineering and is recognized in regional and wider contexts.

Scientific research work at the Faculty is continuous, intensive and rich. It is supported by the Laboratory for Testing Building Materials and Structures, which functions as a sub-organizational unit of the Faculty.

Since 2006, the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Montenegro, in cooperation with partners, has been organizing the international conference "CIVIL ENGINEERING - SCIENCE AND PRACTICE" every other year at GNP https://www.gnp.ucg.ac.me/
