Montenegrin Olympic Committee Visited the Faculty Diagnostic Center

"Modern sport without the application of scientific achievements in the maximum extent practically cannot be even imagined," said the president of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (MOC) Dušan Simonović during the presentation of modern technologies of diagnostics in sport at the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education in Nikšić.

An integral part of the mentioned Center for diagnostic in Sport, according to Simonović, should be the foundation in work not only with professional athletes, clubs and associations, but with all those who intend to engage in sports.

"Through projects that can be implemented we will support the development of this Center in order to be better equipped and to make it even better and more important. It is necessary to be professionally fitted, because the results which are obtained in this Center should be read and interpret in a professional manner, and based on that guidance for further work and functioning of athletes, clubs, associations should be provided, "said Simonovic.

Dean of the Faculty, Assist. Prof. Stevo Popović, PhD said that cooperation with sports clubs and associations should be at the higher level and that there is still not enough awareness of how and in which way to use the results of scientific research. He is asking relevant authorities to help the Center to procure modern technology in order to connect science and practice and to raise Montenegrin sport to a higher level.

The biggest help in upgrading an existing one, according to Prof. Duško Bjelica, they expect from the University and the Montenegrin Olympic Committee. He recalled that in the new school reforms practical lessons will be dominant, so students from undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies the most part of lectures will be at the Center for diagnostic in Sport, while the athletes will be able to perform tests at the mentioned Center, as well as in the Sports & Cultural Center of the University of Montenegro.

Prof. Dr. Kemal Idrizović, Vice - Dean of Science at Faculty for Sport, said that the institution is working hard on improving cooperation with clubs and associations and on purchasing sophisticated apparatus for the Center, in order to be able to offer together with the Montenegrin Olympic Committee everything that is necessary for the diagnostic of Montenegrin athletes.

"Without Diagnostics, future development and progress of Montenegrin athletes and Montenegrin sport is generally impossible, so together we must participate in the organization to be able to help Montenegrin sport. We are already behind developed countries when we talk about sport as a science. We are trying to keep up with them, but in order to be competitive in sports, and in science, this cooperation must persevere until the end, "said Idrizović.
