The Largest International Event in the Field of Sports- Official Opening on April 5th
Representatives of the 16th Scientific Conference of the Montenegrin Sports Academy, announced today that everything is ready for the largest international event in the field of sport sciences, which is to be held in Dubrovnik, Hotel Croatia Cavtat, from April 4th to 7th, and it will be officially opened on April 5th, at 12:00h.
Organizers of the Conference, titled ‘Sport, Physical Activity and Health: Contemporary Perspectives’, are Montenegrin Sports Academy, Faculty of Sports and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro and 12 partner faculties from the EU states and the region.
‘It is my pleasure to say this is the most significant scientific conference in the Northeast Europe and the Western Balkans, when it comes to sport science, which our partners also confirmed’, head of the Conference, Dusko Bjelica said.
He added that this is the first conference organized out of Montenegrin borders. Previous conferences were held in Bar, Kotor, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Podgorica and Budva. Professor Bjelica announced expectations that this year conference will overpass last year’s which were attended by more than 350 scientists from 24 states.
It is guaranteed by a content conference program, composed of workshops, lectures and participation of world renowned plenary lecturers. They will speak on current issues from all areas of sports science, including knowledges from the fields of medicine, social sciences, research, politics and practice related to contemporary perspectives of sports, physical activities and health.
‘UNESCO’s International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education ICSSPE, the largest network of organizations and institutions in the field of sport, listed our Conference at the top of the most significant sport events in 2019 on its website, at the end of last year’, Professor Bjelica said.
He conveyed interest of the French University Côte d'Azur in organization of the Conference in Antibes, Nice next year in the same period.
Chairperson of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dusan Simonovic, MSc, congratulated on internationalization of the Conference considering it as the outcome of hard and committed work and express wish for it to be kept in Montenegro as its brand, after the ‘trip’ over the region.
‘As for us in the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, I convey the attitude of the European Olympic Committee and International Olympic Committee, who were a direct support of the Conference, that we will continue to provide support to the Conference because we deem it quality and valuable for sport in general, and I agree with it’.
Vice-dean for lecture of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, and chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, Kemal Idrizovic, PhD said that this year Conference made a serious step forward in organization and it may not be only compared with conferences in region and Europe, but also with the most prestigious conferences in the world.
Inter alia, he emphasized increasing attendance of young scientists from Montenegro and invited the Ministry of Sport to intensify involvement in the Conference and support for it in order to show interest in sport in Montenegro.
FIGURES OF THE CONFERENCE
Next to the University of Montenegro and its units, Dean of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, Stevo Popovic, PhD thanked the Montenegrin Sport Academy, then to universities of Sarajevo, Novi Sad, Zagreb, Split, Koimbra, Montenegrin Olympic Committee and the European college of sport science.
He also conveyed precise data on the number of papers and participants:
‘We have 364 authors of papers published in the Collection of papers and 222 registered participants. They are from 42 states, and the interesting data is that 70 women and 152 men are the part of the Conference, which indicates men are still dominant in regard to women when it comes to sport science. Exactly, we strive to change that trend by award for the best woman in science’. Next to previously mentioned, an award for the best scientist is also included at the Conference.
‘We have 153 papers that are already published in the Collection of abstracts, six positive lectures, 78 oral presentations, 69 poster presentations to be presented in three sessions. We also prepared 5 workshops’, Popovic stated.
Novelty of this year’s Conference is the CEEPUS training school ‘How to write and publish scientific paper in the field of sport science’.
‘I would like to than the CEEPUS program, especially the Office in Zagreb, which supported entire idea and funded 32 students of undergraduate and PhD studies, who will attend four three-hours lectures prepared by five lectures from region’.
He stated the scientific papers will be presented at the Conference, and abstracts will be published in the Collection of abstracts, while whole papers will potentially take their place in the journals Sport Mont, Montenegrin Journal of Sports Science and Medicine, Journal of Anthropology of Sport and Physical Education, indexed in prestigious world international bases.
