Carrying out activities on the realization of the project: "Montenegro on the political and cultural map of Europe - CLIO MAP", within the work package "Dissemination and promotion", the Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro organized a workshop on "Diplomacy and diplomats of Montenegro". The workshop was held in the Library of the Historical Institute of UCG, on September 17, 2021.

Introductory statements were submitted by Dr. Radoslav Raspopović and Prof. Dr. Boris Vukicevic.

In his address, Dr. Radoslav Raspopović dealt with the issue of the influence of diplomats and diplomacy of Montenegro on the level of its recognizability on the diplomatic and political map of Europe, given the level of institutional and personnel skills. A review was also made of the period of existence of the de facto statehood of Montenegro, in which it achieved an enviable level of its geopolitical recognizability in Europe through political contacts and international ties, even before acquiring international subjectivity. In the continuation of his presentation, they talked about how this process developed after gaining independence at the Berlin Congress in 1878.

Prof. Dr. Boris Vukićević spoke about Montenegrin diplomats in Yugoslav diplomacy. The emphasis of his presentation was on the period after the constitution of the federal Yugoslav state after the Second World War. Regarding the period in which Montenegro had the status of a republic, as one of the federal units, Professor Vukićević cited numerous data on the representation of Montenegrin diplomats in the Yugoslav diplomatic service with comparative analyzes of the participation of Montenegrin personnel in the diplomatic life of the Kingdom of SHS. He also made interesting observations on the diplomatic activities carried out by Montenegro after gaining independence in 2007.

Professor Vukićević's presentation attracted the attention of those present, so they got involved in the work of the workshop through discussions and asking questions. Researchers of the Historical Institute participated in the work of the workshop, as well as colleagues from the Faculty of Political Sciences of the UoM.
