Learning outcomes:

Upon completion of the study programme, the student will be able to:

  • Independently identify manifestations of information security threats, while comprehensively assessing their implications for national, regional, global, and other dimensions of security systems;
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of various types of attacks on computer system security;
  • Understand techniques and principles for the protection of digital data based on steganography, cryptography, and digital watermarking;
  • Design and implement algorithms for the protection of digital data in different applications;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cryptographic protocols, tools, and techniques used in data communications;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all phases of computer forensics, including preparation, planning, and conducting computer forensic investigations, as well as presenting the results of forensic analysis of collected evidence;
  • Identify and analyse security risks in web and mobile applications and apply fundamental defence techniques;
  • Understand and apply authentication and authorization methods;
  • Understand, analyse, and critically evaluate mechanisms for prevention, response, and recovery from cyber incidents;
  • Explain and analyse methods for the detection, identification, reporting, and evaluation of cyber incidents;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of regulatory and institutional mechanisms for the protection of Critical Information Infrastructure (CII);
  • Explain and analyse the ways in which information and communication technologies are used to conduct criminal activities, while understanding the individual and organizational factors that influence the proliferation of cybercrime;
  • Systematically interpret and correctly apply the legal framework governing criminal offences against the security of computer data, with an understanding of regulatory and institutional challenges in prosecuting crimes in cyberspace;
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess and manage security risks in a business environment;
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the study of information security and independently develop and enhance personal skills;
  • Define, understand, and critically analyse contemporary challenges in information security and propose solutions in accordance with best practices in real-world scenarios;
  • Develop transferable research skills and interdisciplinary knowledge applicable to a broad range of potential careers, including information technology, research, and legal-policy fields;
  • Apply principles of professional responsibility and ethics in accordance with established information security standards.
