International Coorporation

The collaboration map of the Faculty of dramatic arts has had a multidimensional role since the very beginning of its operation. It has also practically served as a spatial extension for academic, project-based, and logistical support, aiming to ensure the highest quality foundation for student work as well as the overall internationalization of its activities.
As a key strategic determinant and a component in expanding its own presence in relevant areas, the Faculty’s collaboration map can be divided into several segments and fields. Over time, these segments reflect a remarkably interesting geography of domestic, regional, and international partners with whom the Faculty has carried out some of its most important projects.
Given the Faculty of Dramatic Arts’ very specific educational methodology, which needs to be dynamically adapted and comparatively aligned with contemporary educational practices from the region and around the world, the Faculty has over the years developed very intensive relationships with related regional research and professional higher education institutions, as well as renowned international academic institutions. These relationships have been fostered through activities aimed at effective implementation of bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements, credit mobility (both incoming and outgoing), and exchanges of researchers, faculty, students, and non-academic staff.
Within this defined priority area of internationalization, the Faculty has consistently emphasized the development and support of international project activities, both in cooperation with foreign higher education institutions and organizations, and through joint actions with other organizational units of the University of Montenegro.
An impressive collection of projects has often been realized through co-productions with our network of domestic, regional, and international partners. These have included multi-year development projects with universities from all major Western European countries and EU candidate countries.
As one of the central educational institutions for the development of dramatic and audiovisual arts in Montenegro, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts has also been oriented towards encouraging cooperation and strengthening ties with the economic and social environment in which it operates. The Faculty aims to establish productive cooperation with public, private, and civil sectors, as well as numerous other public institutions and cultural stakeholders, in order to realize joint projects and activities that promote intellectual capital, culture, national identity, and the sustainable development of Montenegro.
Therefore, one of the strongest arguments through which the Faculty of Dramatic Arts confirms the quality of its work is its collaboration with its teaching bases. Namely, the list of institutions with which the Faculty has ongoing technical and programmatic cooperation, realizing its teaching activities as well as its most significant co-production projects — and with which it has signed protocols and agreements on technical-business cooperation — includes:
· Radio and television of Montenegro,
· Montenegrin national theatre,
· Royal theatre "Zetski dom",
· Film centre of Montenegro,
· Podgorica city theatre,
· Tivat cultural centre,
· Nikšić theatre,
· Montenegrin cinematheque.
In addition to these, cooperation has been established with a number of nationally significant festivals and events, such as: the Montenegro Film Festival in Herceg Novi, Kotor Art, Ratković’s Poetry Evenings, the Budva Theatre City Festival, FIAT, Barski Ljetopis, Odakle zovem, Korifej Theatre, Open Science Days, Underhill Fest, Podgorica Film Festival, the Actors’ Festival in Nikšić, and others.
Alongside this list, it is important to mention close institutional cooperation in the implementation of educational programs with local cultural centers in: Bar, Tivat, Herceg Novi, Podgorica, Berane, Nikšić, Pljevlja, Petrovac, Mojkovac, as well as numerous specific projects realized with the: Ministry of Culture and Media, Ministry of Science, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others.
As the central nucleus for the training of professionals in the dramatic and audiovisual fields in Montenegrin society, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts is consistently focused on deepening and strengthening its relations with all relevant actors in the field of contemporary cultural, media, and artistic production.
In expanding its list of partners, it is worth highlighting the close collaboration with numerous domestic and regional professional associations and relevant independent and non-governmental cultural organizations. Particularly significant is the Faculty’s cooperation with NGOs and cultural organizations in the realization of specific cultural actions and socially engaged projects.
By strengthening its relationships with distinguished alumni, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts strives to enhance the visibility and recognition of its prominent individuals — a strong body of professionals who are now largely employed across the cultural, artistic, and media sectors in Montenegro.
In the regional context, it is also important to highlight the Facultys cooperation with other academies and faculties with similar educational and program profiles, including:
· Faculty of dramatic Arts – Belgrade -website
· Academy of theatre, radio, film and television – Ljubljana -website
· Academy of arts – Novi Sad -website
· Academy of performing arts – Sarajevo -website
· Academy of Arts and Culture – Osijek - website
· Academy of dramatic art – Zagreb - website
· Academy of arts – Banja Luka - website
· Faculty of dramatic arts – Skopje - website
Through careful analysis of the contemporary cultural, artistic, and media scene, as well as labor market demands, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts continues to reinforce the quality of human resources in public institutions, private companies, and civil organizations in the cultural sector. This is achieved through a tailored admissions policy and by encouraging a higher degree of programmatic collaboration through sustainable partnerships.
In this way, the list of partners accumulated over the Faculty’s three-decade-long international engagement constitutes an impressive repository of project activities. These activities have been successfully implemented in line with the highest standards of international cultural cooperation and exchange. Accordingly, the Faculty’s list of international partners with whom it has realized some of its most important projects includes:
· UNESCO,
· UNICEF,
· UNDP,
· OSCE,
· Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro,
· National Erasmus Office,
· British Council,
· TIKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency),
· Open Society Foundation,
· Pro Helvetia (Swiss arts council),
· European Cultural Foundation,
· Konrad Adenauer Foundation,
· American Corner,
· French Cultural Centre,
· Italian Cultural Centre, and others.
As this list of international project partners is not final, the credibility of the aforementioned institutions gives us every right to state that the Faculty of Dramatic Arts is a well-established and recognized partner — not only within the borders of Montenegro but also across the regional and international spheres. By signing inter-institutional agreements and implementing numerous European projects, the Faculty proudly emphasizes its close cooperation with institutional partners from many European countries in the realization and coordination of complex cross-border collaborative IPA projects (within the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance) as well as other notable international projects. These projects have been supported through programs such as the European Heritage Label, ERASMUS+, and Creative Europe.
However, the Faculty of Dramatic Arts considers its most important institutional reference and confirmation of the quality of its work to be its full membership in the Executive Council of the International Theatre Institute (ITI/UNESCO), which it officially joined in 2018. This prestigious global association, based in Shanghai and operating since 1947, represents the most renowned worldwide network of institutions for higher education in the performing arts.
