FE a Traditional Partner in Organization of the International Congress of Accountants

This year, the Faculty of Economics was a partner of the 17th International Congress of Accountants and Auditors of Montenegro organized by the Institute of Certified Accountants of Montenegro (ISRCG). The theme of this years congress, which traditionally gathered a large number of participants, was the response of the accounting and auditing profession to economic instability and business discontinuity.

The topics that were represented at the Congress, through Proceedings and panels/round tables, were: capital valuation in conditions of economic instability, analysis of liquidity of the real sector, financial management, audit, enterprise risk management in conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic, preservation of capital and banking business, expert reviews on the implementation of international standards in the field of accounting, financial reporting, auditing, assessment, as well as the sustainability of the public finance system and the banking sector.

During the official opening of the Congress, the vice-dean for scientific research at the Faculty of Economics, assistant professor Dr. Jovan Đurašković, pointed out that the topic of this years congress accentuates an important area of economic fluctuations that was unjustifiably neglected in the academic debate for a long period of time: "The global economic crisis of 2008 brought the theory of business cycles back into the air, indicating legitimate doubts about the self-regulating mechanism of the market. In recent times, we are witnessing dramatic non-economic shocks that decisively determine our personal and institutional balances, the decision-making system and the expectations of business entities," he said.

Vice-Dean Đurašković told the attendees that the current economic context requires competence in decision-making: "Therefore, the role of the academic and professional public is to provide support to all economic actors, especially economic policy holders, to make credible decisions." This Congress, as the result of long-term cooperation between the Faculty of Economics and the Institute, shows our readiness to responsibly face modern economic challenges," he concluded.
