On the occasion of November 10, the World Day of Science for Peace and Development, the Faculty of Economics organized an event where key results of the scientific research works of professors and associates of this faculty were presented to the wider academic and professional public. (Photo Gallery) Rector of the University of Montenegro (UMNE) Vladimir Božović, PhD, expressed his satisfaction that he had the opportunity to participate in a program that represents a good path and strengthening of what UMNE should do. "This is strengthening educational and scientific capacities. The event has a strong motivational moment for the Faculty of Economics and society. We can also call it cognition. It is good to tell each other what we have been doing, what we could improve and send a word of criticism. In this sense, I congratulate the management of the Faculty of Economics and the people who work. I am sure that the results that will be presented have not only an internal significance, but also a broader, institutional one," Božović said. Dean of the Faculty of Economics, prof. Mijat Jocović, Ph.D., thanked the UMNE Rector for the support that the UMNE Rectorate gives to the oldest faculty in Montenegro, and at the same time added that this educational institution selflessly and dedicatedly shares knowledge with students every day. "Nevertheless, we believe that the knowledge we acquire through scientific research work should be put to the function of the development of society. This is also the mission of the Faculty of Economics and UMNE. We are convinced that creators and economic decision makers can recognize the results of our professors and associates. We are here to constantly question ourselves. Through questioning, we get to scientific knowledge and get closer to the truth. In the future, the Faculty of Economics plans to improve scientific research work and thereby contribute to the development of the UMNE strategy. We organize an economic seminar every third Wednesday of the month. An event where professors, associates, masters and doctoral students present results, but more importantly, exchange ideas for writing papers, projects and presenting articles in progress. In the near future, we will open the research center "Ekoflab" as a place where new ideas will be born and successfully work on their more effective realization and promotion. The center will be adequately equipped and adapted to the needs of our researchers and students. Within the Department of Management and Marketing, in September we will organize an Interdepartmental Conference in the field of management that will bring together numerous researchers. We plan to organize a regional doctoral seminar as well," Jocović, PhD, announced. At the event, the aim of which was to point out their important social contribution through the affirmation of the important projects of the teaching staff, the vice-dean for scientific research assistant professor Dr. Jovan Đurašković reminded that on this day, 20 years ago, the World Science Day was celebrated for the first time, as established by Unesco. "It is an exceptional occasion to present the results of our scientific research work to the academic, professional and lay public today, and what is certainly more important, to put these results in the context of the economic challenges that we all face today, both on a personal and institutional level." Djuraskovic said. Before the work started, the Research Outlook 2021-2022 publication was presented to those present, which contains an overview of the scientific research work of professors and associates of the Faculty of Economics and which is available on the facultys website. Todays event at the Faculty of Economics was an opportunity to announce the strategic project of the Faculty of Economics, the first International Conference "Montenegro International Conference on Economics & Business - MICEB", which will be held in Budva, from May 25 to 27, 2023. Its main focus will be directed towards sustainable development and green economy. The Faculty of Economics announced that a web presentation of the Conference will be available next week, through which all those interested will be able to register their participation. With their presence, todays lecture was enhanced by the Ambassadors of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, governors, vice-governors, distinguished professors, as well as students of the Faculty of Economics.

CONCLUSIONS

After the end of two sessions, the conclusions followed. Jovan Đurašković, PhD, highlighted the following:

"In the previous two years, 5 monographs were published.

We have published more than 140 scientific papers, of which:

  • 57 papers in the journals of the prestigious Web of Science collection
  • 24 papers in other international journals that are not indexed in the Sci list
  • 18 chapters in international monographs
  • 42 papers at international conferences
  • Two international projects coordinated by our professors,
  • We are co-publishers of two international magazines.

On that occasion, Vice-Dean Đurašković highlighted the expectation that in two years, a new Research Outlook will be published, which will be richer in structure and content: "And in the meantime, we will work intensively on raising the research capacities of professors, associates and students at all levels of study with an emphasis on masters and doctoral studies.

In the coming period, we will emphasize achieving a special goal - connecting research work with challenges of national economy. Respecting individual research interests, we must find professional motivation to make our research socially useful, i.e. to put scientific facts of social interest into function, regardless of whether they are aimed at the business community, public policy makers or academia. Therefore, the focus will be on the social affirmation of scientific research work." Djuraskovic concluded.
