Public Debate about Climate Changes Finished First Sustainability week on the Faculty of Economics

Climate changes as a powerful drive of economic transformation in Montenegro was topic of a public debate organized on the Faculty of Economics within series of events dedicated to sustainable development, organized awaiting for celebrating Day of Planet Earth.

Moderator of the panel discussion was Danijela Jacimovic, PhD, while panelists are: Minister of ecology, spatial planning and urban development Ana Novakovic Djurovic, Milos Konatar, Vice-President of the Montenegrin Green Party URA, Darko Saveljic, ornithologist and agriculturalist and Oleana Korohodova, PhD, from Ukrainian Technological University "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute“.

Participants of public debate agreed that Montenegro in accordance with its strategic orientation, should develop answers to climate changes policy and question its progress towards goals, in accordance with obligations towards Frame Convention of the United Nations about climate changes and Paris agreement.

There were proposals for measures for mitigation and adaption to climate changes, among which are: investing into renewable energy resources, adapting agricultural production, development of infrastructure resistant to climate changes and improving risk management system from natural disasters.

Today panel discussion finished first „Sustainability Week" organized in the period from April 19th to 22nd on the Faculty of Economics. Aim of organizing this series of events dedicated to sustainable development was contributing to promotion of strategic orientation of Montenegro for sustainable development defined by National Strategy of sustainable development until 2030 in student population and wider as well.
