Women scientists took a special place on the International Conference in the field of sport where a record number of scientific papers, scientists and origin states of participants is recorded. Traditionally, their participation is encouraged by the award for the best woman in science, at international level, and they will be elected from 50 countries in this year.

So far award winners for the best woman in science were Kristina Blasko Lafargi, PhD, from the University of Valencia in Spain (2016), Jana Nova, PhD from the University of Masaryk in Brno, in the Czech Republic (2017) and Laura Schuft, PhD, from the Faculty of Sports Science at the University of Nica- Sofia Antipolis (2018).

Last year, the Conference hosted around 350participants from 24 world states, and Olympic representative of Romania in swimming, and the Professor at the Georgia Southwestern State University in USA, Catalina Casaru, PhD took her place among the most eminent women scientists in science

‘I won several medals at the European Championship, the Balkan Championship for juniors, seniors and the Representation. I participated at the Olympiad in Atlanta (USA) in 1996 and won a silver medal on the World university games held in 1999. I cannot extricate a favourite result because I consider it a working lifelong process and I extend it through scientific work’, she said.

As all other women scientists of the Conference, she is equally interested in practical application of science at human performances, especially for the reason she is former athlete.

Casaru is also member of the Montenegrin Journal of Sports Science and Medicine, which will publish more than 200 received papers for the MSA (Montenegrin Sports Academy) Conference from around the globe, next to the Sport Mont Journal and the Journal of Anthropology of Sport and Physical Education.

The MSA Conference, held in 2017, was significant for the plenary lecturer Ines Varela-Silva from British Loughborough University, the best University in the field of sports.

‘Internationalization of universities and connection of institutions and individuals are exceptionally significant because ‘diversity’ makes us more educated’, Varela-Silva said.

Lana Ruzic, PhD and scientist, currently the Full Professor of the University of Zagreb- the Faculty of Kinesiology attended among plenary lectures of world renown this year. Her work is recognized through 200 different publications, 40 of them are indexed on the Web of Science.

All of them are the part of scientific community at the Conference ‘Sport, physical activity and health: contemporary perspectives’ that will be held in Dubrovnik from April 4th to 7th . it is organized by the Montenegrin  Sports Academy, the faculty of Sport and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro and 12 partner faculties for the EU and region.

Next to the award for the best women scientist, the competition for the best young researcher is opened.
