A Great Interest of Students for First Workshop for Writing Master Paper

On the Faculty of Economics first Workshop for writing master paper is finished for all students of postgraduate studies in process of applying thesis or writing master paper.   During a two day training students with professors and associates of the Faculty of Economics went through all steps of writing master paper and analyzing practical examples, got guidelines in terms of how a master paper should look as well as advice in the view of cooperating with mentor.   

On the first day of the workshop, after opening speech of the vice-dean for scientific researchers, Jovan Đurašković, Assistant Professor, participants of the workshop are within thematic cycle entitled Methodology and research methods from Julija Cerović Smolović, Assistant Professor, head of academic and applied studies, heard about: types of data: primary and secondary data, about empirical research and the application of appropriate methods and analyzed a case study. Then they heard from Sunčica Vuković, MSc, a teaching assistant, about the librarys basic resources and available databases, as well as the use of software in creating a literature review. In the framework of the second thematic cycle entitled Application of the topic, preparation and public defense of the masters thesis: practical advice and recommendations, interested students with Zdenka Dragašević, Assistant Professor, Vice-Dean for teaching, went through application process in detail, received advice regarding preparation of the masters thesis, received information and advice regarding the public defense of the masters thesis and listened to an important segment of the workshop entitled Masters thesis and academic integrity.

On the second day of the Masters Thesis Writing Workshop, the lecturer was Bilja Rondović, PhD, with thematic unit entitled What is a Master Thesis and What should It Look Like? Within this segment, Professor Rondović spoke with students about topics: Determining the research area, Subject and goal of the research, Setting research hypotheses and/or research questions and when and how do I report to the mentor? Last lecturer at the workshop, for which there was great interest among students, was Maja Baćović, Ph.D., whose lecture included following segments: How to deepen knowledge about a specific topic and find appropriate data?, Review papers and critical review, and Research process and methodological notes.
