Guest Lecture by Director and Producer Biljana Tuturov to Final Year Students of FDA Cetinje

Lectures on production and direction of documentary film, to final year students of film studies at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Montenegro will be held on Thursday, September 17 and Friday, September 18, in the MEDIA hall of the Film Center of Montenegro. The mentor is director and producer Biljana Tutorov.

Biljana Tutorov graduated in Archeology and Art History at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). In Paris, she studied anthropological film at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes and acting at the Ecole Internationale de Thêatre Jacque Lecoq. She is the author of video installations, short and feature films, feature and documentary films, video works and performances. She founded the production company Wake Up Films with a focus on documentary and auteur film, and young talents from the region in 2010 in Novi Sad. She worked as an assistant director to Želimir Žilnik. She was the selector of Cross-media and the Regional Selection for the Free Zone Festival until 2017. In 2018, she was elected a member of the international jury of the 59th Festival dei Popoli in Florence. Her documentary When Pigs Come (2017) won a number of awards and was screened at the Sarajevo Film Festival, Hot Docs, Visions du Reel as well as numerous other international festivals.

She is a member of DOK Srbija, the European Documentary Network (EDN), the European Women's Audiovisual Network (EWA) and the European Film Academy (EFA).

Tutorov is also founder of the CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator program, which arose from the need for a new sustainable model of long-term professional cooperation in the field of documentary film, whose authors are primarily women. In addition to training participants and working on projects, the goal of the program is to strengthen solidarity among documentary filmmakers.

With the support of the Film Center of Montenegro, but also regional MEDIA Desks - Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia, this program has for some time provided continuous opportunities for all interested film professionals in the region to participate in open lectures and online meetings with successful European film professionals.

After successfully implemented modules of this year's edition, the most significant of which are the results of the program at the Cannes Marche du Film Online 2020, Biljana Tutorov will share her experiences with students, both as a director and producer, and as the creator of CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator.

Lectures at the Film Center of Montenegro start at 10 am, and students will have the opportunity to watch presentations related to the program, materials from emerging films, to hear what previous activities led the mentor to success in the field of documentary film, how it is today you need to connect and network, and place your projects in the right way.
