Dijana Miljanic, who is currently a third-year student of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Niksic, like many fellow citizens of Niksic, has been interested in sports since she was a child and has been a large number of goblets and medals for 23 years.

She first started working on tatami when she was only 5 years old, and she learnt her first steps from a master of this skill at Karate Club Onogost.

“I started doing karate from the age of five at Karate club Onogost from Niksic. My model was Agayev, the current World and European Champion, the best on the WKF list. Most of my society has been practicing karate and that's how I decided to go in for the sport. The first competition I participated in was in Bijelo Polje, where I won my first medal in a pioneering republican competition, "Diana recalls in an interview with our portal.

The medals from the national championships, medals from the Balkan Championships, as well as the fifth place in Europe, gave her motivation to move on.

“I have participated in many international competitions such as the Balkan and European Championships. My first Balkan competition was in Greece where I finished third. After that, I participated in the European Championships held in Turkey, where I took the fifth position, "points out our fellow citizen.

After almost 18 years in Onogost, Dijana has almost continued her career in Omladinac from Podgorica.

“A couple of months ago, I moved to my new club, Omladinacfrom Podgorica, with which I participated in the last Balkan Championships held in Belgrade, where I made it to the quarter-finals match. However, there I lost to an opponent from Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the Youth Club I have excellent training conditions as well as sparring partners. The coach is dedicated to all the competitors, and the atmosphere at the training sessions is like a family one, and I consider it a very important thing for further competitions, "our interviewee points out.

In addition to the new Olympic sport, Diana has also been involved in another "men's" sport - football for many years, where she has also had a lot of success.

“I started playing football in 2011 at CFO Economist, with whom I was a national champion seven times. We have also participated three times in the Champions League qualification as well as in many international competitions. I also went through all the selections in the national team, ”Diana said, who is currently a third year student at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education in Niksic, and who, despite her huge commitments, manages to reconcile everything.

"If you have a goal, only discipline, persistence and work will get you there," Diana concluded.
