Professor Spalević Elected into Council of the World Association for Soil and Water Conservation

Professor of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Montenegro, Velibor Spalevic, was elected to the Council of the World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC).

Professor Spalevic was unanimously elected on the proposal of Miodrag Zlatic, former president of this association and Professor Duihu Ning.

The positive views for the selection of Spalevic, based on the analysis of the researchers' long-standing cooperation with the Association and his scientific oeuvre, were explained by Jose Luis Rubio - Vice President, Head for Europe and SeyedHamidreza Sadeghi - Vice President, Head of International Conference Organization.

Professor Spalevic has published a large number of papers in international journals, especially in the previous three years [2018-2020]. These works are the result of scientific research with teams from Brazil, Morocco, Iran, Belgium, Malawi, Serbia and Montenegro using models developed in Montenegro by Professor Velibor Spalevic.

Also, ongoing scientific and professional communication with the members of this organization regarding geo-science, land and water conservation research has been taken into account.

Spalevic previously chaired the Scientific Committees of International Conferences and chaired the Scientific Committee of the International GEA Conference whichorganization is currently underway. This important international gathering is organized by several university units of the University of Montenegro, other universities in the region and universities from different parts of the world, under the auspices of the World Society for Conservation of Soil and Water WASWAC [GEA Conference, 2020; www.gea.ucg.ac.me/Scientific].

Aspiration of members of the World Association forProtection of Land and Water is a world in which all land and water resources are used in an environmentally sound way. The aim of all members of this organization is to promote good land use practices and water management, meeting the needs of agriculture, forestry, society and the environment as a whole.

The World Association of Land and Water Conservation (WASWAC), as a World Academic Society, was established in the USA in August 1983. The seat of the WASWAC Secretariat was originally located at the Society for Soil and Water Studies (SWCS) in Iowa, USA; Moved to the International Center for Research and Training on Land Degradation, Erosion and Sediment (IRTCES), Beijing, China in April 2003.
