This year, 15 budget places at Painting, 10 at Sculpture and 15 at Graphic Design are suggested at the Faculty of Fine Arts (FLU).

Vice-dean for teaching at the Faculty, Zdravko Delibasic, MA, says that the Faculty performs daily consultations every year in order to acquaint all candidates with terms and preparation of compulsory works in advance, more information available on the site and social networks.

‘Taking into account characteristics of the fine arts field, all candidates are obliged to pass admission exam lasting three or four working days as their skills (talents) could be checked for selected art fields. During the first examination day, all candidates take the exam Drawing on a model, so the commission may have insight in the authenticity of their work (maps) also to be submitted with documents required for the admission exam’, Vice-Dean Delibasic describes a standard procedure.

According to him, depending on selection of study program, on the second and third day of admission exam, candidates take practical exercises in the fields of: Painting, Drawing and Graphic Design.  After exercises are completed, commission particularly evaluates all works which are summed with the number of points from a high school graduation certificate. Afterwards, a final rank list of candidates is formed and published no longer than 24h from the completion of the admission exam.

‘High art school, gymnasiums and high specialized schools have advantage for admission. Candidates who did not take external high school exam i.e. professional examination, may take a test for two subjects (general culture test and practical part of the supplementary exam: Drawing on a model) significant for mastering selected study program, and gain required number of points in that manner. Examination commission performs preparation of questions, forming of test and assessment on the basis of correct answers. Assessment of test is performed in the same manner as external i.e. professional exam is conducted’, Vice-dean Delibasic explained.

He emphasizes that all levels of study at the Faculty of Fine Arts Cetinje are free of charge, according to the new accredited plan, thus the same rules of enrolment are still valid for foreign and national candidates. Foreign candidates are obliged to submit a certificate on knowledge of Montenegrin language, with documents required and map of works.

‘It is important to remind that enrolment at specialist and master studies according to the old curricula will be performed concluding with 2019/2020 academic year, afterwards, a new master studies program will initiate since 2021 for a period of two years (four semesters)’, he said.

RELOCATION OF THE FFA IN A NEW BUILDING

‘After more than 30 years of existence, the Faculty of Fine Arts expects relocation in the new building, specially designed to meet needs for performance of practical lecture, next year. Contemporary equipped rooms, technical possibilities and increased spatial capacities of the Faculty will contribute to improvement of working conditions for students at all study programs’, Delibasic said.

He states that teaching staff and management of the Faculty have been working on modernization of curricula aligned with the European art faculties during the previous period. Relatedness of curricula at other universities in the region additionally encourage students to be a part of mobility, exchange and continuation of professional training at our Faculty. Through mentioned values, the FLU offers enviable conditions for work and professional support of teaching staff for further training of individual art and research poets.

Specialties, cultural values and historical heritage of Cetinje offer additional motivation for work making our Faculty recognizable and competitive among significant art institutions. In accordance to stated facts, we expect a good response of candidates on the following entrance exam and increased number of students and programs.

MOBILITY IMPLIES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Mobility of students offers candidates plenty of opportunities in terms of development of professional knowledge and skills significant for personal development, Delibasic thinks.

‘Living in a different environment, students may experience a working atmosphere, lecturing methods, create new contacts and acquaintances, improve knowledge of foreign languages and become more open towards other cultures. All arises as the outcome of student interest and motivation who have larger variety of knowledge and skills than our current graduates and master students’, he said.

On the other hand, mobility of teaching and administrative staff, he adds, is a great opportunity for acquiring professional contacts at the international level, as well as for involvement of abroad obtained specific knowledge and methods into the lecture of fine arts and design at our institution.

‘In this manner, our professors will develop their skills for work in international and multicultural environment and acquaint with education systems educating upcoming artists in other countries.

When it comes to the Faculty, we understand better how to develop further teaching process and what is to be preserved and not to be changed in our system based on numerous experiences of our and foreign students and professors. Anyway, international cooperation and mobility enrich every segment of the teaching process,’ Delibasic concluded.
