Professors and teaching assistants of the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education, University of Montenegro organized anthropometric measurements at the Sports and Recreation Center’s pool in Niksić for senior Water polo team of Montenegro. The measurement was carried out at the Center for diagnostics in sports, which is an integral part of the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education.

Measurements with Tanita scale, which was done by Assist. Prof. Danilo Bojanic, PhD,  Rajko Milašinović, MA,  and Ivan Vasiljevic, MA,  provide for recreational and elite athletes detailed anthropometric monitoring with all relevant parameters.

Tanita scale works on the principle of bioelectrical impedance which represents a rapid and non-invasive method to assess body composition.

Based on the software of the device, which has a balance, water polo team members have had access to the percentage of the fat in the body structure, as well as in the segmental analyzing of the percentage of fat content (fat percentage of the left and right hand, and the percentage of fat in the left and the right leg).

Water polo players also got information about the values of visceral fat, based on the additional software that diagnostic center also owns,  information on the percentage of the muscle and bone mass were obtained, as well as metabolic parameters, for each national water polo player. In addition to the above parameters they also measured the values of skin folds at the individual segments of the body.

Measurements were attended by head coach of the water polo team Vladimir Gojković and Director of Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro Petar Porobić, noting that the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education, University of Montenegro and Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro have signed a cooperation agreement.

Faculty for Sport and Physical Education will continue with the expansion of the Diagnostic Center activities and the base of elite athletes who will continue to be measured, because the results should be professionally perceived, and based on them guidance for further guidelines of athletes, clubs and associations should be provided.
