Professor of the Faculty of Philosophy, Lecturer at the Conference Anthropology (in) the Future

Associate professor of the Faculty of Philosophy, Lidija Vujačić, PhD, held a plenary lecture entitled Homo consumens and Homo mediatus - an anthropological overview at the scientific meeting "Anthropology (in) the future" which took place on September 8 and 9 in the Viminacium Archaeological Park.

 

The conference was organized by the Ethnographic Institute of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts on the occasion of the celebration of 75 years of its work and the Archaeological Institute in Belgrade. The gathering was attended by 26 eminent scientists from Serbia, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Germany, Greece and Montenegro, and the topics concerned theoretical and methodological innovations in anthropological science, which with its wide field of interest and activity encompasses both the past and the present as well as the future. Through several thematic sessions at the meeting, numerous issues were raised, including: the issue of science in the Anthropocene, the concept of the society of "abundance" and/or consumerist culture, the society of "surveillance", the issue of ecology and migration in the digital world, as well as numerous other topics arising from existing high-tech society and media culture.
