Radovanovic the First Winner of Silvermine Fulbright Art residency Program

Assistant at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Montenegro, sculptor Ivana Radovanovic is the first winner of the Silvermine Fulbright Art Residency Program within the Silvermine Art Center in the Federal and State of Connecticut for a period of two weeks.

The Silvermine Fulbright Art residency was established this year by a couple - philanthropist Jan and Robert Dilensner, Radovanovic said.

I have been in the center since June 1st, and I will stay until June 15th. Artists are provided with 300 square meters of private work space with plenty of natural light and artificial light. The conditions themselves are such that I cannot express how honored I am on this occasion. Here, I will have the opportunity to work closely with one of the members of the College of Silvermine, as well as with a mentor. I will cooperate with Robin Jeffrey Frank, who is also a professor of art history at the Yale. She is a woman with vast experience. Previously she was the chief curator of the Wadsworth Atheneum Art Museum and custodian of American art at the Yale University Art Gallery. Also, I will work with the director of the gallery, Roger Mudr, ‘ Ivana said.

Since 1908, Silvermine has been a gathering place for artists, founded by famous sculptor Solon Borglum, who established the Silvermine School of Art in 1924.

The school is located only an hour drive from New York. It has over 4000 annual enrolled attendants, five free public galleries that exhibit contemporary art and cooperate with internationally renowned artists.

Ivana Radovanovic will have the opportunity to exhibit her work either on a solo or group exhibition that will be scheduled later in Silvermine Galleries.

The residence lasting two weeks, depending on the artists’ goals, is available for the following media - ceramics, new media, furniture design / woodworking, painting, drawing and sculptures from metal / clay. Participants in this program will have the opportunity to visit art collections in several local museums and galleries.
