Montenegro a Special Guest at the Exhibition of Salon ‘New Realities’ in Paris  

On Saturday, September 19th, in Paris the exhibition ‘Salon of New Realities’, where for the first time, as a special guest, Montenegro is represented. In selection of selector, historian of arts Lucia Djuraskovic, Montenegro is represented by artists Natasa Djurovic, professor from the Faculty of Fine Arts from Cetinje as well as Dragan Karadzic, Biljana Kekovic and Vaso Nikcevic.

Salon ‘New Realities’ (‘Réalités Nouvelles’) started working after the World War II. It has international character gathering the most eminent artists worldwide. It was founded in 1946 representing ideas of artists such as Kandinsky, Mondrian, Malevich and Lisitzski, spreading ideas of groups prior and active in the first half of 20th century, firstly ‘Cercle et Carré’ and ‘Création-Abstraction’, so eventually it grows into association named today Réalités Nouvelles. Group gathers over four hundred of artists, oriented to abstraction in domain of painting, sculpturing, drawing, installation and photography. In exhibits organized once a year, participation is taken by abstract artists that are not members, so at the beginning of 50s the exhibition was made by Yugoslavian artists Petar Omčikus, Momčilo Milovanović, Bata Mihailović, Dado Đurić, Ljubinka Jovanović, Kosa Bokšan, Milija Belić and other.

Participation in the exhibit in Paris is implemented under patronage of the Ministry of Culture of Montenegro, the Municipality of Budva as well as the support of Embassy of Montenegro in France.
