Dean Spaić: The Faculty of Law UMNE Prepared for Pre-Exams

The Faculty of Law is fully prepared and has all technical and human capacities necessary for enforcement of the Decision of the Senate of the University of Montenegro regarding fulfillment of pre-examination obligations, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Aneta Spaić, PhD, said.

For most courses, pre-examinations will be organized online, using modern information technologies, she announced. In doing so, she added, they were aware that current situation has had a negative impact on living standards of our students and other Montenegrin citizens.

“We emphasize that these are technologies and proceduresavailable to all our students and teachers for charge-free. For a smaller number of subjects, with particular nature, it is envisaged to conduct competence test together with the final examination at the faculty premises when the right conditions come,” Dean Spaić explained.

According to her, for more than 80% of subjects, pre-test online knowledge assessment is organized in different forms (Zoom, Moodle, Skype, problem papers, essay-seminar papers ...), depending on nature of subjects themselves.

“For a lower number of subjects, a knowledge test should be carried out after the interim measures are completed. As this is a relatively small number of cases, we do not expect any significant problems in the process of subsequent realization of pre-examination obligations,” Spaić added.

For the Law School study program at the Law School, she says it is structured to allow online pre-examinations almost completely.

"The exception is a smaller number of subjects, but subject teachers have made additional efforts to inform students in a timely manner on all relevant issues for the continuation of the teaching and examination process as soon as the restrictive measures have ceased," Dean Spaić said.

She expressed her satisfaction with online teaching process, and especially with the speed and successful adaptation toextraordinary circumstances in which process of organizing teaching at the faculty was found. In doing so, she emphasizes the satisfaction and willingness of teachers concerned to adapt to the new way of teaching with the appropriate technical support of the professional services.

Especially, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the students of the Faculty of Law, because all this would not be possible without their full support and cooperation. Moreover, we have received and we are receiving useful advice from them regarding organization of online teaching and some pre-examinations, so it can be rightly said that this is our joint project, ” Spaić said.

Because, she adds, the Law Faculty is an organizational unit of UMNE enrolling nearly 300 students a year, or an organizational unit with an extremely large total number of students, feedback of students who followed online classes was satisfactory.

"To a certain extent, percentages also depended on importance of the subject matter for law studies and ranged from 10% in elective subjects to more than 50% in supporting subjects within the Legal Science course," she said.

According to Spaić, online teaching enabled students to follow the teaching process without any disruptions, to understand the teaching material more easily and to attend lessons from their homes, while abiding all measures aimed at preserving public health.
