Success of Students and Professors at the International Urban Planners Exhibition

The students and professors from the Faculty of Architecture achieved a very successful result at the 26th International Urban Planners Exhibition which was opened on 8 November 2017 in Nis. The exhibition presents an annual, traditional manifestation organized by The Urban planners association from Serbia. All significant and actual achievements in the field of spatial and urban planning, urban projection and realizations were presented at this international event.

The Commission received many works in the category student works, and at the end there were 32 pieces of work accepted for the competition. Nina Simonovic and Bojana Cerovic, who study at the Faculty of Architecture in Podgroca, received awards for their diploma papers and Svetislav G. Popovic Ph.D. and Dr. Svetlana K. Perovic were mentors.

  • Nina Simonovic “Urban- architectural solution for coastal area of Bijela”, mentor Svetislav Popovic Ph.D., Sanja Vlahovic M.S.

The selective Commission accepted the following works:

  • Nina Simovic & Jovana Jauskovic “Urban revitalization of the street Balsica”. The urban project 1, mentor Dr. Scetlana Perkovic and assistants: Jelena Bajic Sestovic M.S., Sanja Vlahovic M.S.
  • Marijana Markovic & Lidija Gigovic: “Costal urban structure of Moraca-Utopija”, Urban functions and structures, mentor Dr. Svetlana Perovic, assistant Sanja Vlahovic M.S.

The professors and assistants from the Faculty of Architecture were also rewarded.

There were 6 works in the category Competitions, and the assistant professor, Veljko Radulovic, received a special recognition for “Urban-architectural solution for the kindergarten in the settlement blok 6 Podgorica”

There were 12 works in the category Publications, and Jelana Bajic Sestovic M.S. won the third place for the monograph “Morphology and typology of public areas in Herceg Novi”

This monograph represents a presentation of morphological characteristics of public areas in Herceg Novi which were formed in specific urban context. The work demonstrates phenomena of a public area, its genesis and identity. The author examines forming and defining types of public areas in Herceg Novic which were founded in specific cultural, social and morphological framework. Recommendations offer a possibility for defining methodology of urban projection of public areas. The work presents the survey results which give precise guidelines for transformation of public areas, planning and dealing with public areas, but also defining of the strategy for preserving and improving the significant elements of urban structure of the city in the context of sustainable development strategy of Herceg Novi.
