Scientific symposium: Development of Architectural Language - From Primary to Abstract Form

A scientific symposium on the topic "Development of Architectural Language - From Primary to Abstract Form," presented by Prof. Branislav Mitrović, will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 12 PM, in the hall of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, Rista Stijovića 5, Podgorica.

Architect Branislav Mitrović was born in Bar. He graduated in 1974 from the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade, in the studio of Prof. Uroš Martinović. He was employed at the project institute RO "Serbia Project" (1977–1986) and worked at the Center for Research and Design – CIP Belgrade (1986–1990). Since 1990, he has been an assistant professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade, promoted to associate professor in 1995, and full professor in 1998. For his contributions, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts elected him as a corresponding member in 2006, the same year he was elected a corresponding member of the Engineering Academy of Serbia. In 2012, he became a full member of both the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Engineering Academy of Serbia, was named professor emeritus in 2015, and in 2022, a foreign member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts. He is a member of numerous national and international professional associations (ULUPUDS, DAB, SAS, UIA, UNESCO, ISOCARP, WCC, ICOGRADA).

He has received the following professional and social recognitions: Institute for Urbanism and Architecture of Serbia award for the best diploma thesis in 1974; Republic Prize by the "Borba" newspaper for the best architectural achievement in the Republic of Serbia (1986 and 1991); Special Awards from the Association of Architects of Serbia (1989 and 1993); Grand Prize of the Architecture Salon (1990 and 1998); Special Award of the Architecture Salon (1990); October Prize of the City of Belgrade for Architecture (1990 and 1996); Federal Prize by the "Borba" newspaper for the best architectural achievement in the territory of the SFRY (1991); November Prize of the City of Budva for contributions in the field of architecture and urbanism (1994); Grand Prize of the Novi Sad Architecture Salon DANS for executed buildings (1997 and 1998); Annual Prize of the Association of Architects of Serbia (1997); Novi Sad Architecture Salon DANS prize for interior design (1999); Annual Prize of the magazine "House Style" for interior design (1999); "Borba" newspaper award for the most successful architectural work in SFR Yugoslavia in 2000; Grand Prize of the Association of Architects of Serbia for 2002; Prize of the Association of Architects of Serbia for the best-executed building in 2002; Grand Prize of the Association of Architects of Serbia and the Academy of Architecture for a work in 2003; "Novosti" award for 2004 for the best-executed work in SCG; "Aleksandar Šaletić" prize of the May Salon (2005); May Salon award for architecture and special recognition of the Architecture Salon for sacred objects (2006); ULUPUDS award for overall creativity and contribution to the development of applied arts and design (2009); Lifetime Achievement Award of the Engineering Chamber of Serbia (2009), and many others.
