Lazar Srdanović won the Branko award of the Matica Srpska for the best diploma thesis

Lazar Srdanović, a student of the Study Program for Serbian Language and South Slavic Literature at the Faculty of Philology, is the winner of the Branko Matica Srpska Award for the best graduate thesis in the field of literary studies.

The jury consisting of full prof. Vojislav Jelić, PhD, president, assistant prof. Nataša Polovina, PhD, full prof. Vladimir Gvozden, PhD, full prof. Dragana Vukićević, PhD and full prof. Sanja Paripović Krčmar, PhD reviewed 21 works submitted by departments from Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac, Banja Luka and Nikšić, unanimously decided to award the second prize to Srdanović for the work Metaphorization as an artistic procedure in "Endless Story" by Michael Ende under the mentorship of assistant prof. Svetlana Kalezić Radonjić, PhD.

“In addition to a very successful theoretical analysis of the concepts of metaphor and metaphorization - as pointed out in the mentor's proposal - a special value of Srdanović's work is the interdisciplinary approach to literature with extensive use of knowledge in psychology, and in the wake of modern cognitive theories (regardless of whether it is an experience of a realistic or fantastic sign) makes it easier for the reader to communicate with the world around him. Given the fact that metaphor, in addition to illuminating certain elements of external reality, always carries with it 'traces of the self that makes comparisons', this thesis proves that the best literary analyzes occur when the work concerns us and when we find confirmation in it and for their own life searches.
