By awarding 69 certificates of successfully completed intensive courses in English and Italian, the University of Montenegro concluded a free Summer School for students, organized under the auspices of the Erasmus + project ReFlame (Reforming Foreign Languages in Academia in Montenegro).

The Faculty of Philology, which is also the coordinator of the mentioned project, in the period from June 16 to July 17, during the summer school, offered seven different intensive courses lasting 10 days (40 hours of teaching): English for Electrical Engineering, English for Civil Engineering, English for Science, English for Humanities, Legal English, English for Language and Literary Studies and Italian for interlingua and intercultural mediators in Montenegro (Italiano per i mediatori linguisticoculturali in Montenegro).

The fact that the turnout of students, despite the just-concluded summer exam period, was very high, confirms the awareness of young generations about the importance of learning a foreign language profession. The need for better preparation for an increasingly competitive labor market has overcome the need for rest after a hard "covid" year and exhausting exams. The courses were held live, at different faculties, depending on which students they were primarily intended for: their modernly equipped halls for the needs of the Summer School were provided by the Faculty of Philology, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Mathemativd, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Law, and part of the courses was also in the building of the Rectorate, in the hall which is through the project of the University of Montenegro - IESP specially equipped for language teaching.

New textbooks were used for each of these courses, as well as the first tangible product of the first phase of the ReFlame project. The summer school was actually an opportunity for the textbooks, which have already received excellent reviews from European partners in the project, to be tested in practice. And in this regard, judging by the highest grades and positive comments given through the questionnaire by students and lecturers at the end of each course, the new textbooks did not disappoint. They have proven to be an adequate means by which, with an appropriate teaching approach, through interesting and useful written texts, audio and video recordings, students easily move towards achieving the set outcomes closely related to the practical application of a foreign language for professional purposes.

New teaching material, use of modern technology and the most modern teaching techniques and methods (with which the lecturers, among other things, had the opportunity to get acquainted through three trainings that were organized in the previous period through the ReFlame project), combined with the main prerequisite for achieving better results in language teaching ̶ by working in small groups (maximum fifteen students), have contributed to the remarkable success of this summer school. This is evidenced by the results of surveys. A large number of participants expressed the wish that the organization of a summer school of foreign languages at the University of Montenegro becomes a tradition. In addition to the University of Montenegro, the Summer School of Foreign Languages was offered by two other Montenegrin universities: the Donja Gorica University and the Mediteran University, the national partners of our university in the ReFlame project. The Donja Gorica University offered an intensive summer course: English for Political Science and Diplomacy, while the Mediteran University offered courses: English for Visual Arts and English for Copywriting in Tourism and Hospitality.
