As part of the events organized by the Faculty of Philology to celebrate the Universitys anniversary, the Student Recitation Competition was held on November 8. This cultural event marked the first competition in the art of expressive recital of poetic and literary texts exclusively for students. Participants included candidates from twelve academic programs, such as Law (Faculty of Law), Political Science – International Relations (Faculty of Political Science), Pharmacy (Faculty of Medicine), Acting (Faculty of Dramatic Arts), Psychology, and Teacher Education (Faculty of Philosophy). The highest interest in the competition was shown by female students of the Faculty of Philology, who submitted 16 of the total 34 applications, representing nearly all programs (Serbian, Montenegrin, French, Italian, German, and English).

The jury, composed of Assistant Professor Dr. Milena Burić (chairwoman), Professor Dr. Sonja Nenezić, and Assistant Professor Dr. Svetlana Kalezić-Radonjić, noted that participants demonstrated seriousness in their selection of texts, responsibility in preparation, talent, and creativity in performance. Five outstanding recitations were selected and awarded. Each jury member independently evaluated performances based on predefined criteria, with the unanimous decision to grant awards, which included diplomas and cash prizes.

Third place was shared by Aleksandra Barović, a student of the Serbian Language and South Slavic Literature program at the Faculty of Philology, who performed an excerpt from Ćosićs novel Roots, and Miljana Vlahović, a student of the Teacher Education program at the Faculty of Philosophy, who recited Sudden Light by Branislav Petrović.

Second place was awarded to Jovana Brnović, a student at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, for her recital of Radovan Zogovićs Ninth Poem, and Nataša Milić, a masters student of Italian Language and Literature at the Faculty of Philology, for her recital of Some Poems Are About You by Mirjana Bobić-Mojsilović.

First place went to Mina Mićović, a student at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, whose brilliant performance of Vladimir Mayakovskys A Cloud in Trousers received thunderous applause on the day of the competition.

The awards were presented on November 11, 2024, during a ceremony organized by the Faculty of Philology in honor of Njegoš Day, the national holiday of culture, where the winning recitations were performed again.
