The participation of the Institute for Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies, Center for Archaeology of the University of Montenegro, in the third annual E-RIHS.si Conference, held on 18–19 November 2025 at the InnoRenew CoE of the University of Primorska, represented an important opportunity to present the ongoing activities and results of the project dedicated to documenting and protecting Montenegro’s underwater cultural heritage. The event was successfully organized by Professors Zrinka Mileusnić and Neža Čebron Lipovec of the University of Primorska and brought together nearly 100 leading experts, researchers, students, conservator-restorers, and policymakers in the field of heritage science.

Darko Kovačević of the Center for Archaeology presented the paper Remote Sensing Documentation for the Protection of Montenegro’s Underwater Cultural Heritage, highlighting the importance of advanced remote-sensing methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches in the identification, monitoring, and preservation of underwater cultural resources. This also marked the first public presentation of results from the project initiated by the Center for Archaeology in 2023, within which a significant number of underwater cultural heritage sites in Montenegro have been documented and a comprehensive GIS database has been established.

Participation in the conference was made possible through the ERASMUS mobility programme, within which lectures were delivered at the University of Primorska and new academic and research collaborations were established.

The University of Montenegro will continue to contribute actively to international platforms and joint research initiatives dedicated to the protection and sustainable management of cultural heritage.
