Research stay of young researcher Danilo Kalezić in Washington

Senior researcher, Danilo Kalezić, MA, spent from October 27th till 31st 2023 on a research visit to Washington, DC, where he dedicated himself to archival research at the National Archives. His research topic was the diplomatic involvement of the United States of America in the Montenegrin situation, especially after and during the presidential elections. This research aims to provide a deeper understanding of the role of the US in Montenegrin political events, exploring the political and diplomatic interactions between these two parties. Colleague Kalezić collected significant material during his stay in Washington in order to use it for his doctorate. This material includes archival documents, reports, diplomatic correspondence and other relevant sources that will help him analyze and understand American foreign policy towards Montenegro.

In addition, Kalezić also conducted interviews during his stay in Washington. Those interviews were aimed at gathering fresh information and analysis for his thesis on Russian interference in the election processes in the Balkans. These studies help illuminate the complex political dynamics in the Balkans and the role that Russia plays in those processes.

Kalezićs research contributes to a broader understanding of the political and diplomatic history of Montenegro and the role that the USA and Russia play in this region.
