Until 1978, the Faculty of Metallurgy, along with other departments of the Technical Faculty, was located in the building of the current Faculty of Law. From September 1978, the Faculty of Engineering got a new building.

Today, the official name is the University of Montenegro - Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology. The premises are in the building of the Technical Faculties. The Faculty, as an organizational unit of the University of Montenegro, is networked with other units through the Central Information System (CIS). The Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology, together with other technical faculties and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, formed a joint Library, which is located in the building of the Technical Faculties. The Central University Library, which has good cooperation with a large number of libraries, and especially with the "Đurđe Crnojević" Central National Library in Cetinje, is also available to teaching staff and students.

The faculty has significant spatial capacities at its disposal: 1,860 m2 of laboratory space, 432 m2 of classroom space, 739 m2 of cabinet space and about 480 m2 of common space and halls.

As an organizational unit of the University of Montenegro, the Faculty develops scientific-teaching and research work as the basis of teaching activities in the field of metallurgical-technological disciplines and environmental protection.

The Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology organizes basic academic and applied studies of 180 ECTS (BSc metallurgy and materials, BSc chemical technology and BApp environmental protection), as well as postgraduate academic and applied studies of 120 ECTS (MSc metallurgy and materials, MSc chemical technology and MApp environmental protection). The Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology also organizes academic doctoral studies with a volume of 180 ECTS, in the field of metallurgy, technology and materials.

In carrying out its activities, the Faculty:

  • conducts classes and develops scientific and research work as an integral part of technological science from the profession and related disciplines;
  • works and cooperates with scientific, cultural and other institutions in the country and abroad on issues of education, scientific, professional and other forms of cooperation and thus improves science and teaching;
  • takes care of students education, their health care and improves their social, cultural, sports, technical and other activities; -determines programs of scientific and professional work and creates conditions for their implementation;
  • works on the preparation of investment-technical documentation, studies and development programs, technical acceptance and approval of facilities, issues attestations and certificates and deals with other similar tasks in the field of metallurgy, technology and materials;
  • works on the creation and analysis of projects and technical documentation in the field of metallurgy, technology and materials;
  • carries out journalistic activities (publishing textbooks, scripts, announcements, bibliographies, etc.) in the educational and scientific research area of ​​the Faculty; -provides quality and quantity control services for materials: services for the application of protective regulations and measures and research aimed at improving working conditions, services for issuing certificates and expert assessments for the operation of plants and devices and
  • prepares expertise and controls documentation, etc.
