International Competition for the Best Short Drama Texts "Stories from the Balcony, Stories from the Balkans"

Alternative theatrical active company - ATAK announces an invitation to the international competition "Stories from the Balcony, Stories from the Balkans", for the best short drama texts.

 

The invitation is open to all playwrights from the Balkans and Europe who write in Montenegrin, Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian and in all genres.

 

Short plays should reflect the attitude of Balkan writers on topics: Balkan vision of Europe, connectivity and solidarity in the current circumstances of the pandemic, view of political, social, educational and national meaning, subculture, ideological heritage of Balkan countries, Balkan view of Europe, problems encountered by many countries in the process of joining the EU, the anti-fascist legacy, life between East and West ...

 

The prize for each of the 10 best plays is 500.00 euros, per selected author. The drama should not be longer than 7 (seven) pages, nor should it have more than 2 (two) faces. One author can submit only one play.

 

The best plays will be published in a special collection, and will be performed as a special theatrical work. The plays will be performed by actors from different Balkan countries, and for the needs of digital platforms, they will be recorded as videos and distributed via the website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube channels, etc.

 

The best 10 short plays will be chosen by a jury composed of relevant theater experts and artists. The members of the jury for 2020 are Stevan Koprivica (Montenegro), Dino Mustafić(Bosnia and Herzegovina), Filip Greenwald (Serbia) and Matko Botić (Croatia).

 

The project Stories from the Balcony, Stories from the Balkans is a unique platform for the development of playwriting and international cooperation, which includes a competition for short dramatic forms, forums and production of theater work, intended for playwrights and all employees in theater art in Montenegro and the region. The invitation is also intended for other contemporary artists who practice various multimedia art practices.

 

ATAK's project Stories from the Balcony, Stories from the Balkans was supported by the European Culture of Solidarity Fund, among 29 projects, out of 2,500 from all European countries.

 

HOW TO APPLY

 

The authors send two separate word documents to the e-mail address price.sabalkana@gmail.com. In the first, the text of the play is signed with a code (without stating the name of the author), and in the second, the name of the code, name and surname of the author of the text and contact information of the author, including postal address, e-mail address and telephone number.

 

The texts must be sent by September 20TH, 2020.
