In mid-2020, an international consortium of researchers from the universities of Toulouse (France), Genoa (Italy), Durham (UK) and Barcelona (Spain) launched a three-year project Inspiring rural heritage: sustainable practices to protect and conserve upland landscapes and memories (IRIS). Since Mount Sinjajevina was chosen as the field of research of the French team, researchers from the Historical Institute, Biotechnical and Law Faculty of UoM were included. On Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at the Biotechnical Faculty of UoM was held the initial meeting of the project team of the University of Montenegro with prof. Dr. Pablo Domingues from the University of Toulouse, which formally began activities on the implementation of this project. At the meeting, in addition to prof. Domingues as coordinator, participated the dean and members of the team from BTF, prof. dr Božidarka Marković, prof. dr Milan Markovic and dr Jelena Lazarevic, prof. Dr. Maja Kostić-Mandić from the Faculty of Law and Dr. Ivan Laković from the Historical Institute of Montenegro. The initial activities and dynamics of their realization were specified at the meeting, having in mind the goals of the project and appreciating the new reality caused by the COVID 19 pandemic. , hitherto often neglected, mountainous and rural areas. The project is funded by the National Center for Scientific Research of France and the Joint Programming Initiative for Cultural Heritage and Global Change (JPICH) of the EU.
