Professor Vedrana Marković Awarded the Annual Prize of the University of Montenegro

Professor Vedrana Marković is the recipient of the annual award of the University of Montenegro, proposed by the Music Academy of the University of Montenegro, for her contributions and efforts in organizing numerous events that have enhanced the international visibility of the Academy.

Among the events she organized, the ones that stand out include: organization of the SOLFEST event, the third symposium on Music Pedagogy - SIMPED, and the inclusion of the Music Academy as a co-organizer in the Third International Artistic and Scientific Conference "Persons with Disabilities in Art, Science, Education, and Training" in Osijek, Croatia.

The third International Festival of Solfège, Solfest 2023, which she organized, gathered talented students from nearly all Montenegrin music schools and schools from the surrounding area. The idea of this festival is the affirmation of solfège as a basic subject in music education, through the organization of music schools, competitions, workshops, lectures for teachers and students, and concerts. With this festival, the Music Academy presented itself as a successful leading institution in terms of music education in Montenegro.

Dr. Marković participated in the organization of the Third International Symposium on Music Pedagogy, SIMPED 2023, which brought together over 50 scientists and music educators from Europe, Africa, Australia, and America. As the chair of the scientific committee, she directly influenced the raising of the level and quality of this symposium.

The participation of the Music Academy in organizing the conference "Persons with Disabilities in Art, Science, Education, and Training" is the result of her encouragement and successful collaboration with colleagues from the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Academy of Arts and Culture.

Professor Marković has also distinguished herself with research presented at international scientific conferences.

A major area of interest for Dr. Marković is the history of music pedagogy in Montenegro. Within the project, co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and Media, titled "Vida Matjan - pedagogue and composer", Dr. Marković aims to explore the life, pedagogical, and compositional work of Vida Matjan, with the goal of studying, systematizing, and publishing significant and rich archival material. By publishing the results of her research, Marković has significantly contributed to shedding light on the lives of important figures in the history of music pedagogy in Montenegro and their legacy. Her work as a mentor and educator is also noteworthy, as is her collaboration with secondary music schools and efforts to affirm the Music Academy as a place for obtaining quality higher music education. Additionally, Dr. Marković has actively participated in the MUSIC IN ME festival, collaborating with students from secondary music schools in the surrounding area.

At the solemn session of the Senate of the University of Montenegro, Professor Marković was presented with the award by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Božović.
