After conducting measurements of the national teams of Montenegro and the United States, professors of the Faculty for Sport and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro performed a complete anthropometric measurement of the men's senior water polo team of Serbia, which will also participate in the international water polo tournament in Podgorica.

Serbian water polo players have been Olympic winners four times, world champions five times and European champions eight times.

The measurements were performed with the most modern equipment which works on the principle of bioelectric impedance and provides athletes with exact indicators of body composition. The expert staff of the Serbian national team that attended the measurements received an information about the percentage of subcutaneous and visceral fats of the players, skeletal muscle mass, information on the degree of hydration, metabolic parameters, as well as a complete segmental analysis of the body.

The measurements were realized by full prof. dr Duško Bjelica, PhD, assist. prof. Jovan Gardašević, PhD, assist. prof. Ivan Vasiljević, PhD, as well as by the IT engineer Miodrag Zarubica.

Professor Bjelica said that in the process of sports training, those abilities and characteristics that are primary for achieving the greatest possible sports performance must be optimally developed and perfected.

"It is necessary to know the structures and relations between the anthropological characteristics of athletes, as well as the methods for diagnosing the initial and predicting the final state of training", professor Duško Bjelica concluded.
