Reformed Model of Master Studies at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education as Moving Forward in Quality

At the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education of the University of Montenegro, for the first time this year, students will enrol in a reformed model of a two-year master studies (3 + 2). Dean of the Faculty, Stevo Popovic, PhD, said that his expectations are positive from reformed studies with the hope that there will a step forward in the quality of work, as the primary goal of the reform, but also the interest of students to continue training after undergraduate studies. 

"The planned number of vacancies for enrolment was adopted by the Council of the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, in the postgraduate master's academic studies Physical Culture and Healthy Lifestyles for 20 students that would be financed from the budget, and in the postgraduate master's academic studies Sports, Fitness and Tourism , 10 students, also financed from the budget ", Dean Popović announced.

 Given that there are still students who complete specialist studies according to the old program, and this will be the case this year as well, the issue of announcing a competition for one-year master's studies, to which they have a legal right, was also on the agenda of the Faculty Council session, he added. The Faculty Council has defined that the number of students in postgraduate master's academic studies in Physical Education will be 10 self-financing students, while in the postgraduate master's applied studies in Physical Education of Children a competition will be announced for enrolment of 10 self-financing students.

 "At the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, considering that we did not have many students in master's studies in previous years, with the fact that there are free two-year studies, the number of candidates will not be high this year," Popovic concludes. Based on the decision of the Ministry of Education of Montenegro, from 2017, the license allows number of 70 students for the master's academic study program Physical Culture and Healthy Lifestyles, and 70 students for the master's academic study program Sport, Fitness and Tourism, with 120 ECTS each.
