Professors of the Faculty for Sports and Physical Education, University of Montenegro performed anthropometric measurement of the national teams participating in the European Youth Boxing Championship both in man and woman category, today in Budva.

The measurement was performed with the national teams of Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Spain, Armenia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Northern Macedonia and Kosovo.

These measurements were done with an innovative scale that works on the principle of bioelectrical impedance, which by emitting a low and safe dose of current through the body, offers athletes and their selectors a complete insight into the indicators of morphological diagnostics. This modern method provides an explicit insight into the ratio between muscle and fat mass, metabolic parameters and a complete segmental analysis of the body.

The measurements were performed by Prof. Duško Bjelica, PhD, Assist. Prof. Jovan Gardašević, PhD, Marina Vukotić, PhD, and Blažo Jabučanin, MA.

Professor Bjelica thanked the national team selectors for their trust and emphasized that morphological diagnostics has consistency in the process of sports training, and that these measurements are vital for young athletes in order to match the growth and development of muscle and bone tissue because unprofessional work can lead to harmful and negative consequences for the locomotor system.

The control of the training process, among other things, includes the control of morphological indicators, which enables the objective initial and transit state of young athletes, professor Bjelica concluded.
