Second Volume of Documents within the Project Montenegro and German Reich Published by the Historical Institute of the UoM

Within the edition of Diplomatic volume notebooks, the Historic Institute of the University of Montenegro published the Second volume of documents from the Political Archive of Foreign Affairs in Berlin from 1905 to 1914, as the part of ‘Montenegro and German Reich’ project. This edition emerged as the result of cooperation of the Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro with institutions of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Director of the Historical Institute, Radosav Raspopovic states that the Institute has achieved scientific cooperation with scientific institutions from the Federal Institution of Germany in previous decades attributing credits to personal contacts of scientific workers of the both states.

 

 ‘After 2006, thanks to the engagement of Ambassador Vera Kulis, the cooperation reached a significantly higher, institutional level. It resulted in the cooperation of the Historical Institute of the University of Montenegro with the Institute für Ost – und Südosteuropaforschung from Regensburg at the project: Montenegro and German Reich. Documents for the Political Archive of Foreign Affairs in Berlin 1905-1914)’, he said.

According to him, the result of implementation of joint project is a two-volume publication titled as project.

 ‘Volume I was published 2016 within the edition of the Diplomatic notebook. Work on Volume II was completed in 2019. Preparation and stamp of both volumes are financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany- the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Podgorica’, Raspopovic said.

Considering work on this project significant, the Institute from Regensburg published ‘Berlin Edition’ of the Volume II, in cooperation with scientific institutions Collegium Carolinum-Forschungsinstitut für die Geschichte Tschechiens und der Slowakei, Munich and Herder-Institut  für historische Ostmitteleuropaforschung- institut dr Leibniz-Gemeinschaft, Marbburg within the DogiOst edition.

Numerous archive materials significant for scrutinizing Montenegrin-German relations are made available by the German edition and simultaneously an important period of history of these two states is processed.
