Adriatic Biodiversity Protection – AdriBioPro Conference Series

The Adriatic Biodiversity Protection – AdriBioPro conference series represents a leading regional platform dedicated to the protection and sustainable use of the Adriatic Sea’s biological diversity. Initiated in 2019 by the Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Montenegro, the conference has since evolved into a biennial international event gathering scientists, policymakers, stakeholders, and practitioners from across the Adriatic and beyond.

Through its editions – AdriBioPro2019, AdriBioPro2022, and AdriBioPro2024 – the conference has provided up-to-date scientific and policy-relevant insights on a wide range of topics, including marine and freshwater biodiversity, conservation of coastal and marine areas, invasive species, marine litter and pollution, aquaculture, fisheries, climate change impacts, and the blue economy.

Each edition has been organized as part of major international projects (MonteAqua, EXChAngE, H-LEVEL SA Smart Skills), serving both as a scientific forum and as a networking hub that strengthens regional cooperation in biodiversity protection and sustainable marine development.

Building on this strong foundation, AdriBioPro2026 will continue the mission of connecting research, policy, and practice to ensure a resilient and sustainable future for the Adriatic Sea.
