Training seminar for actors in small-scale fisheries and aquaculture was held at the Institute of Marine Biology of the University of Montenegro in Kotor, Montenegro, on Friday, 7th of June 2019, in the framework of Interreg ADRION project ARIEL. In the first part of the seminar, titled „Marine aquaculture: Branding, monitoring and organic production“ held by Slađana Gvozdenović, mag. biol., and Ines Peraš, spec. biol., the participants had the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the idea of product branding and th eopportunities available to them through product branding. The seminar ended with an example from the Novigrad Sea (Zadar, Croatia), where local producers branded the „Novigrad Sea Mussel“ (Novigradska dagnja). In the second part of the seminar, „Resolving conflicts between vulnerable species and small-scale fisheries“, lecturers Ilija Ćetković, spec. biol., and Stefan Ralević, spec. biol., provided information on vulnerable species in Montenegrin waters (sharks, rays, dolphinfs, sea turtles, sea birds), and the specific actions to be undertaken when an animal is accidentally caught in fishing gear, especially nets and long-lines.
