Seven Teams Represent Start-up Ideas of the Future on June 3rd

Finals of the Start-up Academy of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Montenegro will be held on June 3rd in Podgorica, at 6 p.m. The competition represents final phase of a four-month academy during which selected students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Sciences and Mathematics had the opportunity to collaborate with mentors and develop their innovative start-up ideas directed to starting their own business.

At the finals, seven selected teams (ORHIS, eTIM, BUSmeUP, IAMS, ENGINEERS OF NOTHING, GENERATOR, EDI - Emerging Disrupted Innovators) will present their projects to an international jury, that will then decide on the three first-place teams for which valuable prizes have been prepared.

Ideas they will present are result of intensive and continuous work with mentors: Snežana Ivanović (CEO of Siemens doo Podgorica), Branko Mitrović, MA (General Manager of Telenor Crna), Nenad Novović, (CEO of Amplitudo) Ljubo Knežević (Advisor to the Prime Minister of Montenegro for Energy ), Dušan Banović, MA (Director of the Residential Customer Sector of T-Mobile Montenegro) and Đuro Stojanović, PhD, (Co-founder of Uhura Solutions, UK-based AI fintech start-up).

The jury consists of: Alison Kemp, British Ambassador to Montenegro, Kyle B. Hatcher, Deputy Head of the Political and Economic Department of the US Embassy in Montenegro, Dr. Sanja Damjanovic, Minister of Science of Montenegro, prof. Dr. Sasa Mujovic, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Montenegro, Igor Noveljic, Executive Director of the Electric Power Industry of Montenegro, Vesna Bracanovic, President of the Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System and Ivan Vucinic, General Manager of the Information Sector of the Montenegrin Commercial Bank.

Due to current situation and the recommendations of the NCB regarding public gatherings, the competition is not open to public. Recording of the competition will be available on the You Tube channel of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Montenegro.

Goal of the academy is to provide students with additional value in the field of start-up ecosystems - the art of starting their own business and creating new branches in the economy of Montenegro. Training started in February this year. Despite difficulties caused by the Corona virus pandemic, students showed interest in working intensively on development of start-up ideas, and the mentors were willing to be available and help them develop their ideas to the stage acceptable for the competition finals.

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering implements this project in cooperation with the company Amplitudo.
