Best FFA Student Milica Đurović: Art gives me Freedom to Express Myself

“Art gives me complete freedom to express myself in the way I want,” says Milica Đurović, a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Montenegro and the recipient of the University of Montenegro Award for the Best Student in the 2025/26 academic year.

Milica Đurović was born in Nikšić and now lives and studies in Cetinje, where she is enrolled in undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Painting Department. With an average grade of 9.98, she has distinguished herself as one of the most successful students at the University of Montenegro.

Speaking about the recognition she received, Đurović emphasizes that this award has special significance for her. “This award is a confirmation of the effort I have invested in my studies so far,” she said.

She has been engaged in art since childhood, and her interest in painting has developed through continuous work and exploration of various forms of visual expression. During her education so far, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions, and in her work she explores themes of nostalgia, memory, and personal recollections, inspired by everyday life and intimate experiences.

She describes herself as positive, communicative, and ambitious, and highlights teamwork, collaboration with colleagues, festivals, and social gatherings within the faculty as important aspects of her studies. “There is constant teamwork at the faculty, where we all help each other,” Đurović points out.

In the future, she plans to continue her education at the master’s level abroad, where she aims to further develop the themes she is currently working on, as well as to explore new directions in contemporary art.

The University of Montenegro Award was presented to Milica Đurović by the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, PhD, at a ceremony held at the University’s Rectorate.

To young prospective students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, she sends the message that success does not come without effort. “Nothing should be taken lightly, because behind every success there is great work, and this faculty provides space for us to be who we truly are,” Đurović concluded.
