Dean Marković: Reformed Master Programs of the Faculty of Fine Arts Follow European Artistic Streams

New master programs at the Faculty of Fine Arts are designed in accordance with successful institutions of higher education in Europe and follow the current European artistic and educational trends, the Dean of the Faculty Marko Markovic said.
With innovation of curricula according to new reformed study model (3 + 2), at this Faculty a much better organization of teaching is expected, as well as more competitive master studies on the labour market.
Candidates for master studies can apply for the study programs Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Design.
“Modular system remained on Painting, as the largest study program. Students will be able to choose among three modules: Painting, Graphics and Intermediate Arts. There will be places for 10 candidates each in the study programs Painting and Graphic Design, while seven positions will be open for the World Championships in Sculpture ", Marković said.
Painting, Graphics and Sculpture, he adds, represent a unique offer of elementary art disciplines in Montenegro that have existed since foundation of the Faculty in 1989.
"Nature of these programs consists of individual teaching, a large number of hours of practical work, with innovated new curricula that offer modern theoretical and professional-artistic knowledge in these areas," Markovic said.
Proposal of new structure of the study program Graphic Design, he explains, is motivated by the need to monitor rapid development of profession related to development of new technologies and new media.
"Labour market in this area has been expanding for the last ten years, as evidenced by high level of employment of graduates of this program. SP Graphic Design is recognizable regionally and through significant extracurricular activities: FLUID Design Forum, an interdisciplinary design platform organized by the Faculty of Fine Arts Cetinje ", Dean Markovic says.
He points out that in new curricula for master studies, greater importance is given to intermedia arts, which imply connection of different artistic disciplines and new media.
"We were guided by the need to keep up with similar institutions in Europe and the region in this way, as well as the ambition to affirm FFA Cetinje as a modern, regionally recognized faculty," Markovic says.
He announced that the Faculty will strive for this program to reach a special level of quality, attractive to both international and region students."Encouraged by large number of bilateral agreements, Erasmus + agreements and highly developed international cooperation and exchange of students and teaching staff, we conclude that we can count on this type of interest in the future. Mobility and international exchange are certainly a serious indicator that FFA can make an offer to domestic and international students in new master programs ", Markovic said.
Significant support for future work of students of this faculty, all study programs and modules will have spatial capacity of the new building of the Faculty with technology and modern equipment, necessary for the teaching process and artistic research work. "In that way, we will have the opportunity to offer both domestic and visiting students the opportunity to develop and implement their art projects in master studies in accordance with the most contemporary standards," Markovic points out. He expressed hope that, due to the fact that starting this year, master studies are free, number of students will be significantly higher and more attractive to international students.
"We have already managed to do most of the work on the promotion of the Faculty through active international exchanges and the ERASMUS program, and now we hope that mechanisms have been created to create a very attractive and quality master program. We have great expectations and we are sure that we will meet them ", he concludes.
