Architectural Faculty Partner in another Erasmus+ Project: Establishing Pop-Up Research Laboratories

The Faculty of Architecture of the University of Montenegro, for the next three years, will be partner on another European Erasmus+ project named Architecture pop-up lab exchange (APLE). The Project in category Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education – Partnerships for Transformation in Higher Education, will be managed by the Faculty of Architecture of the University in Sarajevo, while program partners on the project are European countries: Trondheim, Norway; Sapienza, Rim, Italy and Zagreb, Croatia, while project partners are the Western Balkans countries: University in Banja Luka, University SU in Mostar, University from Sarajevo and the University of Montenegro.

Project Architecture pop-up lab exchange (APLE) encourages cooperation of academic/student sector with labor market, aimed at exchanging information and knowledge between the profession and market, making liaison better between the labor market and higher education, with accent on applying practice and acquired knowledge, skills and competences including training of a student of architecture. Even though activities within architectural faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Montenegro there is tendency to include real problems and locations into teaching process, to cooperate with local community and market to a certain extent, with this project is possible to strengthen cooperation, give students to act practically, in public or private sector, which result may influence on quality of space, having in mind rising of environmental issues, quality of life, town image. Creative and innovative potential in that process may be generator of positive changes of public interest. Pop-up laboratory would function as laboratory for architectural research within teaching and for skills acquisition not only through formal curricula, but also through various courses and studies.   

Concept of the project APLE is based on three premises:

  • Capacity building within higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro for teaching, practical training and research potential;
  • Involvement and cooperation of the academic/student sector with the business sector (labor market), industry, public and civil sector;
  • Installation of pop-up laboratories that will work as laboratories for architectural research/teaching and skills acquisition (through curricula and establishment of courses and studies), serving the public interest, and virtual laboratories for the exchange (database/market connector) of information and knowledge.

Total project budget is 750.000 Euros. Project on the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica will be managed by the team as follows: Svetlana Perović, PhD, Ema Alihodžić Jašarović, Assistant Professor, Dragan Komatina, PhD, dr Jelena Bajić Šestović and Nemanja Milićević, MSc
