Grand Opening of 18th Architectural Student Congress
18th Architectural Student Congress, in the organization of the students from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Montenegro will be held in Montenegro (Kolasin and Herceg Novi), from May 8th to May 13th, 2019. First ASC, as annual scientific-expert congress of students from ex-Yu countries, is held in Ljubljana 2002, with the aim of cooperation, connection, exchange of knowledge and experience of students and professors from eighteen Faculties of Architecture from the former Yugoslavia.
Thematic framework of ASC ranged from sustainable development, re-urbanisation of industrial areas, through innovations and recycling and transformation of urban ruins during the last years. This year, Relay of Congress comes to Montenegro titled ASC Caravan 2019 and it formed the idea of the need for research ephemeral architecture. The original idea of the Caravan is the result of the need and desire for independence from trendy problems and mainstream. After meeting in Podgorica, ASC Caravan is moving towards Kolasin where after couple of days spent in the mountains it will continue toward Grahovo and Herceg Novi where will be held workshops and lectures, and the final closing ceremony of Congress and delivery of Relay to the Faculty of Architecture that will organize ASC 2020.
Set theme of ephemeral architecture has for the aim the production of informal ides that are temporary, intuitive sense of space, contrary to the traditionalist approach in architecture. Installations, performance, note or photographic testimony will be the product of the workshops, and they will make the map of lived experiences of ASC Caravan. The kinetic approach to architecture, which is meant in the move, will re-examine possible scenarios, concepts, potentials of all areas that students together with their mentors will visit: Kolasin town, Biogradsko lake, ski-centre Kolasin 1600, Grahovo field and Memorial park –Uprising and Revolution, Herceg Novi…
More than 70 students and mentors from regional faculties of architecture will participate at this year’s Congress, while thematic workshops will be led by mentor team consisted of: Miljana Zekovic, PhD, (FoA, NS), Ema Alihodzic Jasarovic, MSc, (FoA, PG), Zdravko Delibasic Beli, MSc, (FoFA, CT), Ana Dobrasinovic, MSc, Marko Radonjic and Marko Stjepcevic.
Great opening of the Congress is announced for May 8th, 2019 in Cultural Centre of Kolasin, with the announcement word of Milosav Bulatovic, the president of Municipality, and this year ASC Caravan 2019, will be grand opened by Svetisav G. Popovic, PhD, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Montenegro.
