At the Faculty of Philology, Greatest Interest Traditionally for English Language, and then for German

Interest in the Faculty of Philology of the University of Montenegro is standardly high, so there is no reason why it should not be the same this year, the Vice Dean for Teaching at this faculty, Zdravko Babić believes.
"Last year, all vacancies in the study program English Language and Literature were filled in the first enrolmentperiod, while in the program German Language and Literature, after the second enrolment period, there were no vacancies. In the other study programs of the Faculty of Philology, number of advertised places was approximately half filled, which is not a small amount considering the quite ambitiously planned numbers ", Babić states.
As usual, he adds that the maximum quotas provided by the license of the Ministry of Education will be proposed at this faculty, and it is expected that the interest will not be less than it was in previous few years.
"Greatest number of vacancies is planned for the study program English Language and Literature (80), followed by Montenegrin Language and Literature (55). In the study programs Serbian Language and Literature, Russian Language and Literature, Italian Language and Literature and French Language and Literature, 45 each, while 40 students can enrolin German Language and Literature, " Babic stated.
When it comes to the most sought-after programs, Vice-Dean Babić says that there has always been a greatest interest in the English Language and Literature program.
He adds that there is great interest in the German language and Literature program, due to increasingly obvious fact that young people who know this language can easily get a job in the German-speaking area, striving to provide themselves with a quality of life worthy of their diploma.
"Other foreign philology (Russian, Italian and French language and literature) is enrolled by a lower number of students, but these fields also have a stable number of students and there are quality experts in these fields on the Montenegrin market. In addition, young people who have a high level of English during primary and secondary education, and who love languages, cultures and customs of other countries, often choose not English but another foreign language, aware that with the knowledge of another foreign language to be more competitive on the fragmented market of Montenegro, but also abroad, as well as to enrich themselves with knowledge about the rich histories and cultures of these great countries ", Vice-Dean Babić believes.
The opportunity to get to know other countries, their language and culture certainly guarantees them numerous opportunities for academic mobility, where the Faculty of Philology, Babicclaims, is at the very top of UMNE, and students increasingly decide to spend the whole semester at one of the famous foreign universities.
"We invite those high school graduates who have not had the opportunity to learn some of the great foreign languages before to make their wish come true - experience has shown that students without prior knowledge, who lovingly truly dedicate themselves to studying, will eventually be among the best," Vice Dean Babic said.
