After successfully completing the pre-exam and exam requirements, a student will be able to: 1) explain the biological significance of secondary plant metabolites, 2) describe the structural divergence, origin and pharmacological action of the most important classes of secondary plant biomolecules, 3) identify herbal drugs and describe the importance of the traditional use of medicinal plants, 4) apply modern experimental methods for the preparation of plant extracts and their chemical characterization.
