The Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor Participated in the Panel “Cultural policies: Pathways to Sustainability”

As part of the International Festival of Culture, Arts, Heritage, and Creative Industries "CREATIVE FEST MONTENEGRO," a panel discussion titled "Cultural Policies: Pathways to Sustainability" was held. Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, Prof. Dr Tatijana Dlabač, participated in this significant event promoting the exchange of ideas and initiatives in the field of culture. Alongside Prof. Dr Dlabač, Mr Milan Lučić from Arts Western Balkans, British Council, Belgrade, and Prof. Dr Edin Jašarović, Dean of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, University of Montenegro, Cetinje, participated in the panel discussion. The panel was moderated by Mr Nikola Bada Radonjić from DAA Montenegro. In her speech, Dean Dlabač emphasised the importance of creating and implementing cultural policies in Montenegro, highlighting the role of the University of Montenegro in their development. She heavily stressed the need for accreditation of new study programmes focusing on cultural heritage, ethnology, and Montenegrin folklore. The Faculty of Maritime Studies Kotor, according to Prof. Dr Dlabač, plays a unique role in preserving and promoting Montenegros maritime heritage. She underscored the historical significance of the Boka Navy, which dates back to 809 AD, as well as the need for students to become more familiar with the countrys rich maritime traditions. Additionally, Prof. Dr Dlabač reminded the audience that seafarers are among Montenegro’s most significant cultural ambassadors, constituting approximately 1% of the country’s population. This panel discussion provided a platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening collaboration between educational institutions and cultural initiatives, representing a vital step towards the sustainable development of cultural policies in Montenegro.
