Learning outcomes:

It is expected that the student after passing the examination in this subject will be able to: 1. Recognise and explain the factors that lead to sports injuries and demonstrate the current understanding of rehabilitation principles in common sports injuries 2. Describe the physiological processes associated with tissue healing of tendons, ligaments and muscles, explain action of physiotherapy techniques and modalities that positively affect the healing process 3. Recognize the characteristics and mechanisms of developing the most common sports injuries and classify sports injuries on the basis of signs and symptoms, development and the course 4. Implement physiotherapy examination using previously acquired knowledge of functional anatomy and kinesiology; demonstrate the ability to formulate an appropriate plan of physiotherapy for acute or chronic sports injuries, 5. Applies selected physiotherapy intervention, monitor and, if necessary, changes them, and evaluate the effects of physiotherapy 6. Show the understanding of the role and limits of action of the physiotherapist within the multidisciplinary rehabilitation of injured athletes
